Michael Ginster

June 20, 1954 - February 27, 2024

Obituary

Michael Gerard Xavier Ginster, born June 20, 1954 – passed to our Lord, February 27, 2024.

Mickey was born with developmental disabilities, although he has forever inspired and amazed his entire family through his innocence, mischievousness, wonderment, and laughter.

The treasure we will remember most about Mick is the unbreakable bond he shared with his ‘mama', ‘dada', brothers, and sister. Mickey lived the best life – forever a fan of horses, John Wayne, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Three Stooges, Santa Claus, ice cream, and an occasional Budweiser, all surrounded by choruses of hearty laughter and the love of his entire family.

Through the fierce love and advocacy of his mom and dad, Mickey avoided institutionalization and thrived in a group home for many years. Upon our parents passing, we are forever grateful to our sister Cathy – who along with the entire family – stood steady watch in providing care and support for Mickey. Throughout the years, we would also like to give special thanks to our many cousins, dear friends and group home staff who loved and supported Mickey beyond measure.

Mickey is joined in the loving arms of Jesus and his parents, Margaret Mary Ginster and William Joseph Ginster. He is survived by his sister, Catherine (Michael), brothers, Anthony (Teri), Thomas (Kelly), William (Cindy) – along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church Site of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, 2445 N. Charles St., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Amal Madanu will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: University of Michigan, School of Dentistry Office of Development, 1011 No. University, Suite 1420, Ann Arbor, MI 48109, Fund # 322887 – Delta Dental Integrated Special Needs Clinic.

Uncle Mickey was my favorite uncle. He was always being silly, getting in to trouble, and making everyone around him laugh. I’ve never seen someone be so adored and so well cared for by their family. He will be greatly missed by many. heart

I Sonya Love would like to send my deepest condolences to the Ginster family. It was a GREAT pleasure to care for "Mickey D". He was one of 5 reasons why I enjoyed coming to work everyday, even if it was 8 or 16 hours it was a joy. We also shared the sign of the Gemini so that was also a true bond between us. I will truly truly miss him. Like a fellow Gemini he was one of kind. Mickey D you will always and forever hold a special place in my heart. Fly high my guy!!!
