Obituary
Donald “Don” Franklin Granger, Jr., age 89, of Prescott, formerly of Saginaw, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, March 18, 2024. The son of Donald and Dorothy (Watt) Granger, Don was born March 13, 1935, in Saginaw. He married Margaret “Joey” Kleinebreil on August 26, 1956. Together shared 46 years of marriage until Margaret's death in April of 2003.
Don was a residential carpenter for 40 years. He then went on to drive the bus for Saginaw County Mental Health Authority for 10 years, after which he enjoyed retirement. Don loved to socialize and was a legendary storyteller, something he loved to do. He truly enjoyed the outdoors and nature, whether he was fishing or hunting with friends, or camping with family. Don also loved to sing and was a part of his church choir. He had a strong devotion to his faith, reading from his prayer book daily, and was an active member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church for 20 years. Don loved much in life, but he most treasured his family and time spent with them.
Don is survived by his beloved children, Marion (Gerald) Edwards and Dean (Laurie Reichard-Granger) Granger; loving grandchildren, Sara (Tim) Ramsey, Daniel Granger, Shannon (Nathan) Tausch, Frank Granger, Anthony Ankoviak, Bryce (Ila) Ankoviak, and Jaimie Johnson; adored great grandchildren, Dalaina (Benjamin) Heinrich, Dakota Kilgore, Cheyanne Kilgore, Tyler Small, Evelyn Granger, Oliver Tausch, Evangeline Ankoviak, and Allanah Ankoviak; great great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Shelby Heinrich; siblings, Joan Wazny, Karen Sweet, Gary (Helen) Granger, and Fred Fetting; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his son, Dale Granger; his daughter, Marcia Granger; his sisters, Sally Frederick and Janice Granger; and his parents.
Visitation will take place Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Visitation will continue Friday, March 22, 2024, at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw.
