Ernest Spears

Ernest “Ernie” Franklin Spears, Jr., age 63, of Whittemore, Michigan, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024. Ernie was born on March 9, 1961, to Ernest and Taman (Abdo) Spears in Detroit, Michigan. He was raised in Warren with his sister, Maryanna, and brother, Samuel.

Ernie met the love of his life, Alicia, while working together, and knew she was the one who'd stolen his heart. Together they enjoyed going fishing and taking long walks. He liked to draw and tinker around the house on various projects. Ernie was a volunteer at the Fish Store in Hale, to him helping others was rewarding and gave him a sense of purpose. He loved to read the Bible and his strong faith in Jesus is what helped him get through his toughest times. When he was feeling down, he would say a prayer and when he opened his eyes you could see a weight had lifted. Ernie enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He would watch in adoration while they played, sometimes getting down to play along with them.

Ernie will be greatly missed by his children, Brian Gray, Amanda (Daniel) Pendred, and Amber Spears; beloved grandchildren, Shanon, Grayson, Addison and Charley; siblings, Maryanna Lovell and Samuel Spears. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alicia; daughter, Shanon; mother, Taman; and father, Ernest.

Honoring Ernie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
