Mary Elda Linda Vescio

November 8, 1946 - April 26, 2020

Mary Elda Linda (Haas) Vescio, lovingly known as “Snooks” and “Aunt Snookie”, age 73, of Saginaw, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2020. The daughter of Claude and Thelma Haas, Mary was born November 8, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Ralph Vescio on May 15, 1965. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in just a few weeks. Mary had many hobbies in life, but especially enjoyed antiques, jukebox music, going to rummage sales, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards and Tri-Peaks on her cell phone (Thank you Dale!), Harley Davison Motorcycles, reading, stuffed bears, and being around others. Her Catholic faith was incredibly important to her. Mary worked at the YMCA and Target for a time. Of all the things Mary loved in life, the most important was her family, who will remember her as a wonderful wife, mom, grammy, sister, and aunt. Her grandchildren were her life and her greatest joy. Mary is survived by her beloved husband, Ralph Vescio, Sr.; her loving children, Maria (Bob) Sian, Ralph Vescio, Jr. (partner, Marsha Pahr), Ann Vescio Baldwin, Chuck Vescio (Jessica Rangel) and daughter-in-law, Becky Vescio; grandchildren, Olivia Sian, Bobby Sian, Kaitlyn Vescio, Autumn Vescio, Nadia Baldwin, Nicky Baldwin, Austin Beck, and Zoie Clark; sister, Debbie (Dave) Herzberg; brother-in-law, Louie (Kay) Vescio; sister-in-law, Debbie (Vescio) Chinery; and Aunt Elda “El-Net” Prueter; her cousin and sister to heart, Jackie Maher; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Thelma Haas; mother and father-in-law, Vittorio and Gina Vescio; brother-in-law, Antonio Vescio, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Maria Vescio, who passed away as an infant. A socially distanced visitation will take place Thursday, April 30, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Guests will be able to utilize the sidewalk to pass by the front glass vestibule on Michigan Avenue, inside which Mary, her husband, Ralph, their children, and immediate family will be present. Please bring your name and address to place into a card box outside. Please also observe the arrows and ‘X’s on the sidewalk to maintain proper social distancing measures. A private funeral mass will also take place for immediate family on Friday, May 1, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Andrew Catholic Church Site of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, 612 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate. The funeral mass will be streamed live to Fischer Family Funeral Services’ Facebook page for extended family and friends who wish to be a part of the celebration of Mary’s life. To honor her love of Harley Davidson Motorcycles, her son, Ralph, her son-in-law, Bob, and friends will lead Mary to her place of rest at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in a motorcycle hearse. Friends and family are welcome to join the procession, but MUST remain in their vehicles at all times. Memorials in honor of Mary may be made to the Neurofibromatosis Network, 213 S. Wheaton Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187, the Saginaw County Animal Shelter, 1312 Gratiot Rd., Saginaw, MI 48602, or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814.
