Florence Esther Proux

Florence Esther Proux, age 97, of Saginaw, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018. The daughter of Conrad and Phyllis (Leinweber) Eurich, Florence was born December 7, 1920, in Warwick, New York. She married Henry Wilhelm and he preceded her in death in 1961. She was then married to David Proux and he preceded her in death in 2003. Early in her life, Florence was a fashion model, dental assistant, and worked several years in the business office at St. Luke’s Hospital. She volunteered for over 40 years with the Red Cross, St Luke’s Hospital and Covenant Healthcare. She also volunteered her time at the Bethesda Thrift Shop. Florence was a devoted member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she especially enjoyed the Coffee Hour Ministry and was well known for her cookies and banana bread. She enjoyed making new cookie recipes to share with her family and friends. Florence always loved having a new car and was still driving up until two weeks before her passing. She was an expert seamstress who was well known for her potholder sets, which she shared with friends and family alike. She was a loving and giving person with a warm smile, always enjoyed her family and was perpetually proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. Florence is survived by her children, Carol (Melvin) Stacy, Karen Rice, Janis (Dennis) Thom, and Jerry (Jennifer) Wilhelm; grandchildren, Melanie (Mike) Presley, Susan Rice (Peter Roemer), Dr. Michael Thom, and Matthew Thom; great grandchildren, Alec and Maris Presley and Oliver Roemer; siblings, Clara (Darrell) Gilbert, Louis Eurich, James (Patricia) Eurich, and Joan (Norman) Neuenfeldt; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings. Visitation will take place Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Visitation will continue Wednesday, May 2, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
