Jones Wood

Jones Wiley Cornelius Wood, age 91, of Saginaw, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021. The son of Jesse and Stella Wood, Jones was born May 31, 1929, in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Jones had a tough childhood yet went on to live a fulfilling life. His career was with General Motors – for 30 years to the day. Jones served in the U.S. Navy and was a proud veteran and American. He had many passions and talents in life. Jones had skilled hands which were evident in his work as a master wood carver, a talented guitarist and musician, and pilot. He even built his own plane, the Christian Eagle, with his wife, Joann. He also loved to play a round of golf in his spare time. As a faithful Christian, Jones’s life was centered around Jesus. He and his wife Joann prayed daily for their loved ones and those in need. Jones is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joann Wood; his children, Rita (Ron) Eckhout, Bennett (Janet) Wood, Gary Dean Blevins, Mike (Melissa) Radtke, Doug (Molly) Radtke, Rob (Karen) Wood, Renee (Terry) Sullivan, and Jenny (David) Kuritar; 21 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; 3 sisters, Mellon Pinkston, Carolyn Lackey, and Peggy (Larry) Jordan; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ann Wood; his second wife, Vella Wood; his granddaughter, Selena; and his parents.
